control mosquitoes. These are special chemicals
used to kill mosquitoes and their eggs .

What can you do to avoid getting bitten?

• One thing you can do is wear insect repellent
  when you are outside in the spring, summer and
  fall.

• If possible, wear long pants instead of shorts
  and long sleeve shirts.

• Mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide,
  which is the air we breathe out. When you are
  outside in an area with lots of mosquitoes, try
  talking less. You will be less attractive to
  mosquitoes because you will produce less carbon
  dioxide.

What can you do to reduce the mosquito problems
you may have at home or at school?

• Make sure there is no water in old car tires
• Drain or cover childrens pools and flower pots
• Clean birdbaths weekly
• Empty any containers in your yard that collect
  water such as paint cans, jars, tubs, pet
  dishes, wheelbarrows and bottles
• Make sure doors and windows have screens without
  any holes
• Fill any holes in trees
• Build birdhouses to attract birds
