• Both are summaries of qualifications, education,
  experience and skills.
• Sometimes the terms are used interchangeably.

Curriculum Vitae

• generally used by candidates who have completed a
  masters or doctoral program and are applying for
  positions in academic fields
• tends to be longer and more detailed
• more emphasis on academic qualifications,
  related teaching and research experience,
  publications, presentations

Resumes

• typically used for non-academic positions
• typical length 1-2 pages
• concise summary of relevant skills, experience,
  education more emphasis on being selective and
  tailoring information to the needs of the
  position

Resume Tips

• Use point form in your descriptions, starting
  with ACTION words avoid using responsibilities
  or duties included
• Use ACTION RESULTS formula
• Organize your resume so that your most relevant
  information is listed on the first page

• Be specific and concise
• Make sure your resume is easy to read
• Have your resume laser printed on good quality
  paper white or off-white colour is fine
• PROOFREAD for spelling and grammar mistakes
