• Sasha is the pet name of Alexandra.

  number of people and she wants to be a nurse She

• He idolises his father so much he almost becomes
  his clone.
• He volunteered to join the army, thinking he was

  Cassandra who witnessed an ancient war on the
  plains of Troy.
• This time she ,Sasha, witnesses WORLD WAR 1.
• She has to save her brother with her power,
  yet she is trapped by her own tragic power -who
  wants to see the end of their own story?
• Sasha has always wanted to be a nurse but her
  father and family do not think she would be able
  to cope with the terrifying wounds of the
  returning soldiers. Her gift/curse of seeing the
  future is only death.

  future leads her into meeting people she never

They could both see the future. They were both
trapped by their tragic powers. They could both
see the end of other peoples stories. They were
both five when they first saw the future. They
both dreaded the conflicts. Foreshadowing -gift

Why is Sedgwick worth a place on your bookshelf?

• Marcus Sedgwick uses flashbacks a lot in his
  stories. Often, he uses stories within a story
• He includes magic in all of his books. E.G.Sasha
  sees both of her brothers dying in her mind.
• He begins his story with chapter 101 and finishes
  with chapter 1
• He hooks in his readers in by using interesting
  ideas e.g.the fact that Sasha has two names.
• He paints pictures with words e.g. I saw the gun
  that will kill Tom,and I flew with the
  bullet,spinning,spinning towards him.
• He is very intriguing I was five when I first
  saw the future, how mind catching is that?
