Horseshoe Bats

• They twist turn in midair like experts
• They leave their roost at night to hunt
• They live in large groups called a colony
• They only have one young
• Live for 20 years
• If it dies hanging upside down it might stay
  there for a couple years

Red Tailed racer

• They slither on branches in the forest
• They mate during rainy season
• They lay their eggs in warm moist places
• Lays between 5-12 eggs
• Mom dad leave before they are born
• They hold themselves horizontally to catch their
  prey
• It has a special lung to inflate its upper body
• It only eats 1-2 times a month
• Tongue gets info from surroundings

Cave spiders

• Usually found less than 16 yards inside cave
  mouth
• Very carnivorous
• Female lays eggs in the summer
• Lay eggs in a sac
• Seals sac with more silk after
• The following spring the eggs hatch
• They shed after a day so they can cut themselves
  out of the sac
• When the sac isnt hatched, predators dont
  always see them
• The females guard their young and attacks
  anything that threatens
• They are poisonous

Blind cave fish

• They are blind
• They have no color pigment because their color
  comes from their back bone
• The gill is protected by a cover called the
  operculum
• Eyes are completely covered with a layer of fat
  skin
• Their lateral line detects vibrations
• At fast speeds, they hardly bump into each other
• The female lays their eggs in the water
• When they are alerted, they create a substance
  that scares away other fish
• They are like piranhas with sharp teeth

Barn Owl

• They make a blood curdling screech to call a mate
• The female lays 2-6 eggs in a tree, cave, barn,
  or on a cliff ledge
• They sit there for 30 days or until the eggs
  hatch
• The baby owlets cant see at all
• In 8 weeks, the owlets can fly and feed
  themselves
• They hunt mainly at night
• They prey mostly on voles, shrews, mice, and
  frogs
• Meals are slightly smaller
• The females tear up the prey for the young
• They dont hoot and they weigh 11 0z.

Cave Crickets

• They feed on whatever they can find
• They eat things that float onto the cave
• All cave crickets breed all year
• Lays eggs on the floor of the cave
• They start wingless called nymphs
• Only the males have the wings
• They are called camel crickets because they have
  a humped backs
• They have antenna three times their length
