- Hello, my name is Barbara Smith. Im the
personnel manager of the Garden Hotel and Im
going to tell you what I did yesterday. I got up
at 715 and left home for work at 755. After a
35 minutes drive I arrived at my office at about
830. The first thing I did was to turn on

began. I interviewed two candidates in the
morning, one at 930 and the other at 1030. At
1220, I went down to the cafeteria for some
lunch. In the afternoon I interviewed two more

staff meeting, which lasted for about three
quarters of an hour. By then it was time to go
home. The traffic was so bad that it took me more
than an hour to get home. It was already 730
when I finally sat down to my dinner, completely

- Larry had always wanted to become a movie star.
His hopes for success were dashed again and
again, however. Hollywood just did not seem
interested. But Larry refused to admit that his
chances of getting into movies were practically

parking cars for one of Hollywoods big
restaurants. The pay was basic but since the

car. Larry had recently heard that the man was
making a new picture.

- Fascinated by Larrys abrupt statement, the
director stopped. Yes? Which companies? - Well, replied the would-be star,

a card and handed it to the young man.Come and
see me tomorrow.

be a writer. I never wanted to be anything
