About Castles

• Of the many castles of Germany most of them line
  the Rhine River. Most of these castles date back
  to the middle ages. The royalty that built these
  castles, built them for the sole purpose of
  protection.
• They wanted protection from marauders and
  predatory neighbors. They built their castles on
  mountain tops, which now today serve as a
  beautiful landscape to marvel at.

• There are more castles along the 35 mile long
  stretch of the Rhine River, than any other river
  valley in the world.

Neuschwanstein Castle

• One of the most well known castles is the
  Neuschwanstein Castle near the city of Fussen,
  Germany.

Castle Ruins

• Many of the castles over the years have
  deteriorated and fallen apart. But they still
  remain today as a reminder of Germanys past.
