Higher Education Admission Requirements
  • Requirements to be admitted to any of Colorados
    public four-year colleges and universities.
  • Four years of English
  • Four years of mathematics three at the level of
    Algebra 1 and higher
  • Three years of natural science (two of which must
    be laboratory sciences)
  • Three years of social studies (one of which must
    be U.S. History or World Civilizations)
  • Two years of academic electives
  • One year of a world language (some require more)

Policy and Procedures

Registration
  • CLASS ENROLLMENT
  • Six Classes per semester
  • An extra class can be added only if it is a class
    that has no cap such as Student Senate music,
    publications, or speech class.

SCHEDULE CHANGES
  • Schedule changes will be granted only with the
    approval of a counselor or an assistant
    principal. Students should choose their classes
    wisely during registration because changes are
    often not possible at the beginning of a
    semester.
  • Students must follow their original schedules
    until schedule changes have been granted.
  • Changes will only be made for incorrect level,
    prior semester failure, or class conflict.
    Changes will not be made for teacher/period
    preference.

ADDING/DROPPING CLASSES
  • All class additions must occur no later than the
    end of the first week of the semester.
  • Classes dropped during weeks 3-9 will result in a
    grade of WF (Withdraw Fail) or WP (Withdraw Pass)
    as indicated by the teacher.
  • Classes dropped after week 9 will result in a
    grade of F for the semester and will affect the
    cumulative GPA. See your counselor for the
    necessary forms.

GRADES AND CREDIT
  • All classes at LHS are worth .5 credit per
    semester unless otherwise noted. A .25 credit is
    given for homeroom at the end each semester if
    all requirements are met.
  • Progress report grades are issued every six (6)
    weeks. No paper copies will be handed out. You
    can access report through Infinite Campus
  • Only semester grades are recorded on transcripts.

GRADE CLASSIFICATION
  • All students are classified by grade level based
    on years enrolled in school. The following
    credits earned are targets for each grade level
  • Complete Grade 9 6 Earned Credits
  • Complete Grade 10 12 Earned Credits
  • Complete Grade 11 18 Earned Credits
  • Graduate 24 Earned Credits

MAKE UP COURSE OPPORTUNITIES
  • Students are not generally permitted to retake
    failed courses.
  • Students who fail classes need to make
    appointments with their counselors to explore
    credit retrieval options.
  • Make up failed classes can be done through night
    school, summer school, or through correspondence.
    Ranging from 124.00 - 175.00 per course.

Attendance
  • Compulsory Attendance Law
  • Every child under the age of 17 years is required
    to attend school.
  • And
  • Every parent of a child under 17 shall ensure
    that the child attends school.

  • For homework your student has two days for each
    day absent (48 hours) (page 29 code of conduct
    book) Please contact Sue Roberts (303-982-2068)
    to request homework for extended absences.
  • Lakewood High Schools attendance policy is
    located on page 7 of the student planner.

Off Hours
  • Most students will have at least 1.5 hours off
    per day.
  • If your student has 3rd or 7th period off they
    will have from 1120am to 130pm off
  • We are an open campus
