- Between 2005-07, the nation had an average
volunteer rate of 27.2 per year - In 2007, 60.8 million volunteers dedicated 8.1
billion hours of service to community
organizations - Average volunteer rates for the 50 large cities
ranged from 14.5 to 39.3 - Columbus ranked 6th - with a volunteer rate of
34.7. 450,000 volunteered serving 55.8 million
hours per year

27MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY OHIO
- The largest national day of helping others
- MDDO was created as a public/private partnership
in 2000 to provide a statewide emphasis to
this national volunteer effort. - MDDO has led the nation in service projects for
8 consecutive years - In 2007 -over 1,000 projects were reported,
involving 40,000 volunteers
OCSC and the MDDO Steering Committee coordinate
MDDO under the leadership of Honorary Co-Chairs
Frances Strickland, First Lady of Ohio and Jim
Tressel, Head Football Coach, The Ohio State
University.

- Over the past 14 years, the State of Ohio has
provided 2.7 million in funding for Council
