Size and Financial Performance
  • Verizon is a very large firm that offers many
    different services and owns about 109.04 billion
    in market capital.
  • In the stock market, Verizon is priced at 37.55
    per share. It is doing well compared to its
    competitors like Sprint Nextel, but not as well
    as ATT.
  • Verizon has 250,000 employees serving customers
    in more than 150 countries.
  • From 2000-2005, Verizon invested more than 72b
    to expand its technology.
  • Verizon generated about 88,144,000,000 in
    operating revenue and about 6,197,000,000 in net
    income.

  • In 2006 telecommunications globally had revenues
    of 1.3 trillion and in 2011 they are expected to
    grow to 1.6 trillion.
  • The are huge markets outside the U.S. such as
    Western Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America
    all which have grow potential.
  • Out of the 1.3 trillion in revenues for 2006 the
    U.S. accounts for 25 while Western Europe has
    31 and Asia pacific holds 23.
  • Verizon reported a 88.1 billion operating
    revenue for 2006 which was up 26.8 from 2005
  • Opportunities to grow as the market continues to
    increase.

    U.S. wireless providers at 38 billion while ATT
    had 37.5 billion
