Physical Description

• Light gray or tan
• 3-5 feet long with tail
• Runs on toes to run faster
• Hard to tell where coyote is howling
• Has sharp teeth and claws

Habitat

• Lives in mountains, prairies, and deserts
• Lives in a den
• Father digs out den
• Have heavy coats in winter
• Turn or flatten ear to catch the faintest sounds

Diet

• Rabbits
• Rodents
• Cattle
• Tracks then stalks for 20-30 min.
• Tears prey into pieces, digests like any other
  dog

• Look like parents but smaller and blind
• 63-65days
• 3-9 but as many as 19 pups
• In spring
• Both parents

• Can run 40 mph and can jump an 8 ft. fence
