study hours per week 10, 13, 16, 17, 20, 22, 23,

Step 1 The data is in order from least to
greatest. Find the median.
10 13 16 17 20 22 23 24 26 30 31 The median is
the sixth number, 22.
Step 2 Find the lower quartile and the upper
quartile. They are the medians of the lower and
upper halves.

quartile is 16, and the upper quartile is 26.
