Introduction
  • Joe Shuster is a Famous Canadian because he
    created the greatest superhero in comic history,
    Superman
  • Born on July 10th, 1914 in Toronto, Canada
  • Moved to Cleveland, Ohio when nine, with his
    family
  • Started his new and exciting life in Cleveland.

Early Life and Education
  • He went to Glenville High in Cleveland.
  • Studied art at the John Huntington Polythechnical
    Institution
  • And at the Cleveland School of Art
  • He started a magazine with his friend Jerry
    Siegel
  • It was called Science-Fiction.
  • The magazine only lasted through 6 issues
  • Later on him and Jerry had an idea to create
    another superhero called The Superman.

Early Career Bad Times
  • They both went to a publisher right away when
    they had the sketches done of Superman.
  • Even though the sketches were good the publisher
    rejected them coldly.
  • Joe went home heart broken
  • He tore up and burned all his work on Superman
    except for the cover.
  • After that he worked on lots of jobs
  • Like delivering groceries, and carrying boxes
    from one place to another.

  • The team regrouped with an idea that could save
    their career.
  • The had made a new and improved Superman.
  • They even added a story line to his past
  • They were coming back.

  • The comics sold up to 200 000 to 500 000 a week.

  • He got into the comic book making business
  • Never gave up after the rejection made from the
    first publisher they met.
  • Made the greatest comic superhero in history.

  • Joe is important as a Canadian because he gave
    talent to Canada.
  • And shows everyone to never give up on your
    childhood dreams because it could come true.

Conclusion
  • I chose Joe Shuster because I thought that he
    would be an excellent person to work on.
  • He was a great artist.
  • Drew Superman through 1947 for a close of 100,000
    dollars.
  • His career cut short because of eye failure.
  • He passed away of a heart failure on July 30,
    1992, just after his 78th birthday.
