PROGRAM VISITATION
2Workshop Objectives
- To update Vessel Examiners and Program Visitors,
and provide them with practical and relevant
knowledge to assist them in spreading the RBS
message. - To review current and new requirements to perform
their missions. - To review the latest technology available to the
recreational boating public.
3National RBS Program MissionStatement
To minimize loss of life, personal injury,
property damage, and the environmental impact
associated with the use of recreational boats
through preventative means to maximize the safe
use and enjoyment of United States waterways by
the public.
4National V-Directorate
- The V-Directorate is part of the Coast Guard
Auxiliarys Recreational Boating Safety (RBS)
Directorate. - This Directorate coordinates and oversees the
Auxiliary mission in support of the Coast Guard
Office of Boating Safety Division with the
development and implementation of various RBS
programs.
5V-Directorate Key Missions
- The V-Directorate has responsibility for two key
mission programs - Vessel Examination
- Recreational Boating Safety Visitation Program
6V-Directorate Key Missions
- Additional responsibilities include liaisons with
non-profit, commercial, and governmental
organizations that deal with boating safety
issues.

Although the two programs deal with different
audiences, their goal is synonymous To deliver
the RBS message to the greater recreational
boating community through personal interaction.

and their boating safety equipment. - Safe boating techniques - the right behavior.

- The promotion of additional boating safety
education that knowledge is the key to a safer
boating experience. - Marine Domain Awareness - Americas Waterway
Watch Program.

- The message includes
- Use of personal life jackets.
- Dangers of CO poisoning.
- Cold water safety issues (cold water immersion).

- The message includes
- On the water environmental issues.

- The adverse affects of alcohol and drugs (legal
and illegal) on the recreational boater. - Boating Responsibly!
12Visualizing The Future
- As the V-Directorate looks to the future, its
primary thrust is to instill in the minds of our
Vessel Examiners and Program Visitors that they
are - We are Educators.
- Our front line in the mission to promote Boating
Safety. - Recruiters for the Auxiliary.

- Each and every person encountered is an
opportunity to educate that person with the
knowledge that one day may save lives.
