• Born in Atlanta 1929
• Son of minister and teacher
• Went to Morehouse college
• Married Coretta Scott in 1953
• Organized a boycott of Montgomery bus system
• Nonviolent boycott lasted 382 days and was the
  first victory

• Wrote the Letter from a Birmingham Jail when
  imprisoned by Bull Connor
• August 1963 March on Washington that launched a
  quarter of a million civil rights advocates of
  all races walked to the Lincoln Memorial giving
  his famous I have a dream speech
• Awarded Nobel Peace Prize in 1935

• Shot on a balcony in Memphis Tennessee on April
  4, 1968
• Day before he was killed he informed his
  followers that he was unafraid of dying

Malcolm X Bio

• Born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1925 as Malcolm
  Little
• Changed to X because he believed Little was
  his slave name
• Imprisoned at 21 for burglary
• joined the Nation of Islam- headed by Elijah
  Muhammad
• When released became Prime Minister of Nation of
  Islam

• Made pilgrimage to Mecca after breaking from The
  Nation of Islam because he doubted the Nations
  insular views
• Solidified when he learned about Muhammads
  illegitimate children
• Found out about a conspiracy to assonate him
• Shot and murdered by 3 members of the Nation of
  Islam in February 1965

• Martin Luther King Jr. was a spiritual man that
  used peace to bring an end to segregation
• Malcolm X lashed out at white racist society to
  try and end racial prejudices with violence.
