  • Born in Atlanta 1929
  • Son of minister and teacher
  • Went to Morehouse college
  • Married Coretta Scott in 1953
  • Organized a boycott of Montgomery bus system
  • Nonviolent boycott lasted 382 days and was the
    first victory

  • When released became Prime Minister of Nation of
    Islam

    Nation of Islam because he doubted the Nations

  • Solidified when he learned about Muhammads
    illegitimate children
  • Found out about a conspiracy to assonate him
  • Shot and murdered by 3 members of the Nation of
    Islam in February 1965
