Cyber Bullying
  • Cyber Bullying- the use of electronic information
    and communication devices such as e-mail, instant
    messaging, text messages, mobile phones, pagers
    and defamatory websites to bully or otherwise
    harass an individual or group through personnel
    attacks or other means.
  • Examples- inappropriate pictures, intimidating
    messages, and unnecessary myspace comments.
  • Cyber Bullying can effect an individual by giving
    them embarrassment, danger, and fear.

Online Gambling
  • Online Gambling- internet provides online
    gambling to the players home. Online gambling
    can increase the gambling problem.
  • Examples- betting money or other objects, and
    loosing your bet. It can become addicting and
    life threatening.
  • Online Gambling can effect an individual because
    they can receive dangerous threats, become
    involved in dangerous circumstances, and valuable
    losses.

Online Gaming
  • Online Gaming-multiplayer is a mode of play for
    computer and video games in which multiple people
    can play the same game at the same time.
  • Examples- bad websites, and addicting games.
  • Online Gaming can effect an individual by giving
    them computer viruses and addictions that can
    change that persons life dramatically.

Hate Speech/ Racism
  • Hate speech is a controversial term for speech
    intended to degrade, intimidate, or incite
    violence or prejudicial action against someone
    based on his/her race, ethnicity, national
    origin, religion, sexual orientation, or
    disability.
  • Examples- Discrimination and bullying.
  • Hate speech and racism can make people feel bad
    about themselves.

Phishing/ Spoofing
  • A form of social engineering,
  • characterized by attempts to
  • fraudulently acquire sensitive
  • information. The term phishing arises from the
    use of increasingly sophisticated lures to fish
    for users financial information and passwords.
  • Examples- stealing passwords, credit card
    details, and stealing email or screen names, and
    addresses.
  • Phishing and spoofing can effect an individual
    because they can steal passwords and credit card
    numbers.

Privacy
  • Refers to the evolving relationship between
    technology and the legal right to, or public
    expectation of privacy in the collection and
    sharing of data.
  • Examples- keeping your password safe, keeping
    personnel information safe, and keeping personnel
    financial accounts safe.

Spam
  • Spamming is the use of any electronic
    communications medium to send unsolicited
    messages to someone in bulk.
  • Examples- sending pictures, sending emails, and
    sending instant messages.
  • Spam can effect an individual by becoming the
    recipient of mean messages or pictures.

Spyware
  • Spyware covers a broad category of malicious
    software designed to intercept or take partial
    control of a computers operation without the
    informed consent of that machines owner or
    legitimate user.
  • Spyware can effect an individual because it can
    find out their personnel data. It can track down
    the information and send it to other people.

Virus
  • A virus is a self- replicating program that
    spreads by inserting copies of itself into other
    executable code or documents in computer security
    technology.
  • Viruses can effect an individual because it can
    take their personnel files. It can also destroy
    the persons computer.

Conclusion
  • While the Internet can provide a wealth of
    information it can also open dangerous and
    addicting paths for people of all ages. Hopefully
    this slideshow will prevent Surfers from
    entering harmful and inappropriate sites.
