What is it

• Generic UI Form for Creating Budgets
• Captures all critical information that GAO,DSP
  and departments will need to know about the
  grants budget
• Standardizes budget processes and improves the
  uniformity of budgets across departments by
  having a standardized form
• Provide a tool for researches to better
  understand effort reporting and cost sharing
  calculations
• Multiyear Budget Calculations

Objectives

• Capture effort reporting and cost sharing on
  personnel and non personnel
• Provide a tool for researchers to create budgets
• Allow output of the budgets to various Sponsor
  Forms and a UI standardized form
• Integration into existing Routing Process for
  Electronic Approval

Benefits

• A standardized budget process and UI form
• Archive of past, present and future budgets and
  template budgets for reuse in future grants
• All F A and cost sharing calculations are done
  via the application and not by PI thus
  eliminating potential errors in budget.
• All information is provided that Grant
  Accounting/DSP needs for awarding, thus
  eliminating delays in proposal submission and
  award process

Costs

• Extra initial work for PI in proposal Submission
• Budgets with high detail and department specific
  formats will either
• Conform to new Budget Process?
• Continue with existing budget process and
  duplicate in budget builder?
• Upload their own budget?

How this fits in the Routing Process

• Budgets can be prepared before routing forms are
  filled out
• Budgets can also be prepared during the filling
  out of a routing form
• During routing process budgets are attached to
  routing forms and allowed to be viewed during
  routing process

Future Goals

• Provide tool for outputting to Sponsor Specific
  forms e.g. NIH,NSF,USNavy, American Heart, NEH,
  etc. in a complete format. Currently, the
  application will output to various formats but
  not be complete.
