  • The length of his rule, the suppression of
    opposition, and the effective propaganda that
    occurred through the years he ruled made an
    evaluation almost impossible
  • In Madrid, Juan Carlos became king and ruled
    after his death
  • After his death in 1979(age 82), Spain reverted
    to a mature, stable democracy in which power
    changes hands from one ruler to the people
  • Today Spain is still a democracy
