    part of the nation of Singapore which includes 58
    other tiny islands.
  • It is only 682 square miles which is only about
    the size of three Washington D.C.s

    in 1819. It joined the Malaysian Federation in
    1963 but separated two years later and became
    independent.

    trading links (its port is one of the world's
