Abortion

• What is it?
• 1 the termination of a pregnancy after,
  accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed
  by the death of the embryo or fetus as a
  spontaneous expulsion of a human fetus during the
  first 12 weeks of gestation.

• Suction Aspiration
• Dilation and Curettage (DC) cuts baby and
  placenta into small pieces.
• RU 486-abortion pill
• Dilatation and Evacuation (DE) after 14 wks
• Prostaglandin or Saline after 16 wks.
• Dilation and Extraction Partial Birth (DX)
  late term.- body delivered first then incision
  made in head.

• The Numbers
• Every year more than 1,000,000 in USA
• Since 1973 some 43,000,000 in USA
• Every year an estimated 46,000,000 in the world.
• 20 of all babies conceived in this country are
  killed before they ever reach the light of day.

Facts

• Some encouraging signs.
• In May of 2003, the United States Senate voted
  64-33 to approve a ban on partial-birth abortion.
• The Presidents Council on Bioethics concluded,
  the case for treating early stage embryo as
  simply the mortal equivalent of all other human
  cellsis simply mistaken (Kass, 2002).
• Texas , NC and other states have moved to make
  abortions safer- thus closing down many abortion
  clinics. Abortions are down in 2013.

• Some Other Interesting facts
• 88 of abortions occur during the first 6 to 12
  weeks of pregnancy.
• 60 of abortions are performed on women who
  already have one or more children.
• 47 of abortions are performed on women who have
  already had one or more abortions.
• 43 of women will have had at least one abortion
  by the time they are 45 years old.

• More than 6 in 10 are against overturning Roe vs.
  Wade (CBS Poll)
• 2013 poll showed this number now 5 in 10
• ACLU has made attempts to limit what is said
  about this issue in pulpits- churches with
  federally insured property loans targeted.

Early Americans

• For the first 150 years.
• Most would not have tolerated divorce, alcohol
  and public drunkenness, homosexuality, unwed
  pregnancy, and pornography in movies and
  magazines (Miller, AP)
• Certainly would have frowned on abortion.
• But things have changed due to social liberals
  brow-beating us at every turn.
• Results are that even young in the church
  honestly state that, a woman can do what she
  wants with her own body.

What Does God Think?

• There is no passage that says, Thou shalt not
  commit abortion.
• However, there is plenty of passages that helps
  us to know Gods will.

• Zechariah 121 - The burden of the word of the
  Lord against Israel. Thus says the Lord, who
  stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of
  the earth, and forms the spirit of man within
  him
• Just a glance at this passage would tell us that
  God places the human soul within man.
• When does God do this?

What Does God Think?

• The activity of pre-birth growth is connected to
  the activity of God.
• Ecclesiastes 115 - As you do not know what is
  the way of the wind, Or how the bones grow in the
  womb of her who is with child, So you do not know
  the works of God who makes everything.

• David insisted that his growth before birth was
  Gods doing.
• Psalm 13913-16 - For You formed my inward parts
  You covered me in my mothers womb. I will
  praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully
  made Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul
  knows very well. My frame was not hidden from
  You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully
  wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your
  eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in
  Your book they all were written, The days
  fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of
  them.

What Does God Think?

• Men were chosen to do Gods work before they were
  born. ( Isa. 491 Jer. 14-5)
• Jeremiah 14-5 - Then the word of the Lord came
  to me, saying Before I formed you in the womb
  I knew you Before you were born I sanctified
  you I ordained you a prophet to the nations.
• Galatians 115 - But when it pleased God, who
  separated me from my mothers womb and called me
  through His grace,

• Same term is used to describe a person in and out
  of the womb.
• Luke 139-44 - Now Mary arose in those days and
  went into the hill country with haste, to a city
  of Judah, and entered the house of Zacharias and
  greeted Elizabeth. And it happened, when
  Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the
  babe leaped in her womb and Elizabeth was filled
  with the Holy Spirit. Then she spoke out with a
  loud voice and said, Blessed are you among
  women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
  But why is this granted to me, that the mother of
  my Lord should come to me? For indeed, as soon
  as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears,
  the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

What Does God Think?

• Out of the womb.
• Luke 212 - And this will be the sign to you
  You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths,
  lying in a manger.
• Luke 216 - And they came with haste and found
  Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.

• John is called a son after conception.
• Luke 136 - Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative
  has also conceived a son in her old age and this
  is now the sixth month for her who was called
  barren.

Abort Baby Jesus?

• Mary would have been within her rights?
• According to the logic of many today- Mary would
  have been within her moral and spiritual rights
  to abort baby Jesus.
• Someone says Well, thats different. God had
  special plans for Jesus.
• God sacrificed His Son for every human!
• Every soul is precious and special to God.

Gods Law

• If someone causes the death of an unborn child
  accidentally, then eye for eye.
• Exodus 2122-25 - If men fight, and hurt a woman
  with child, so that she gives birth prematurely,
  yet no harm follows, he shall surely be punished
  accordingly as the womans husband imposes on
  him and he shall pay as the judges determine.
  But if any harm follows, then you shall give life
  for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for
  hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for
  wound, stripe for stripe.

What Does God Think?

• If God punished for accidental death to unborn,
  what about deliberate, purposeful killing of the
  unborn?
• Exodus 237- Keep yourself far from a false
  matter do not kill the innocent and righteous.
  For I will not justify the wicked.
• Proverbs 617 - A proud look, A lying tongue,
  Hands that shed innocent blood,

What Does God Think?

• If something is alive, then the spirit is
  present!
• James 226 - For as the body without the spirit
  is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
• If the body is alive, then the spirit is present!
• Is the body alive in the womb? YES.

Alternatives

• If a young lady and young man find themselves to
  be illegitimate parents,- repent of sins , live
  a godly life and raise your child as God
  commands. .
• Adoption is one alternative- many want a child
  but cannot have one. Several brethren help in
  this area.
• Marriage- if both are sorrowful and will repent
  of their sins and obey the Lord.
• Do not get married just to cover a sin however.
  This can make matters worse .
• In all cases KEEP THE BABY.

How far have we gone?

• Society has gone mad!!
• Taking possession of an egg containing a
  pre-born American bald eagle results in a stiff
  fine and even prison time.
• Yet the destruction of a baby before it leaves
  the womb is legal and often praised!
• We refuse to execute hard-core criminals, while
  still executing innocent human babies!
• Save the whales- but go ahead and kill children.

What Is Next?

• Current insurance policies will turn over
  decisions on certain life-saving procedures to a
  panel of insurance people to decide if such
  surgeries are viable expenditures
• When a society kills humans before they can see
  the light of day, then how long will it be when
  the aged are considered non-viable and
  euthanasia is practiced?
• What of children who are mentally challenged?-
  Will we let them die?

Forgiveness?

• Not a sin done by man that cant be forgiven
• If you are not a Christian, you can become one .
• If you are a Christian and maybe you have had an
  abortion, God loves you still and promises to
  forgive you completely.
• Christs blood covers all sin- but we must be
  obedient to His commands.
• Will you obey Him?
