Title: OVERPOPULATION:

1
OVERPOPULATION
  • CRISIS OR CHALLENGE ?

2
OVERPOPULATION
  • DEFINITION
  • The condition of having a population so dense as
to cause a decline in population or in living
conditions. To increase the population of a place
so much that the amount of space, food, water, or
other resources available to support it is
insufficient to meet the needs and or demands.

3
BACKGROUND
  • Throughout history, overpopulation has plagued
humanity. When any population reaches a point
where it becomes too large for the amount of
    available resources, people suffer from
    malnutrition, disease, and eventually starvation.
It also has many harmful effects on the world
    around us.

4
HISTORY OF OUR EARTHS POPULATION
  • The human population of Earth first reached 1
billion in 1804, 2 billion in 1927, 3 billion in
1961, 4 billion in 1974 and 5 billion in late
1986. On October 12th, 1999, the human population
of Earth reached 6 billion. In most of our
parents lifetimes the population has doubled from
3 billion in 1961 to the 6,087,592,800 it is
    today.

5
CURRENT STATUS
  • According to the most recent world census, the
current world population is about 6,205,857,370,
and continues to change each day. Such a large
population contributes to almost all forms of
    pollution, malnutrition, and starvation. There
are just too many people on our planet to satisfy
    everyone's needs, and wants.

6
RECENT FLARE-UPS
  • One of the most definite results of an
over-population is occurring right now in our own
backyards. California is in the middle of an
extreme power crisis. There is just not enough
power to meet the demands of all the people in
California. The demand is greater than the
    available supply

7
REASONS FOR OVERPOPULATION AND THE PROBLEMS THAT
COME WITH IT
  • GREED
  • WASTEFUL HABITS
  • IGNORENGE
  • LACK OF CARE
  • WEAK CENTRAL GOVERNMENTS OF THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES

8
ATTEMPTS TO END OVERPOPULATION
  • - MANDATORY BIRTH CONTROL
  • - INCENTIVES TO HAVE LESS CHILDREN
  • - PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS LIKE PLANNED PARENTHOOD
  • - GOVERNMENT FUNDING OF LITERATURE REGUARDING
    PLANNED PARENTHOOD
  • - LET NATURE TAKE ITS COURCE

9
OUTCOME
  • THE OUTCOME OF THE OVERPOPULATION, WHAT EVER IT
IS, IT IS GOING TO BE DUE TO A DRASTIC CHANGE IN
THE WAY PEOPLE IN OUR WORLD LIVE. PEOPLE AROUND
THE WORLD WILL HAVE TO UNITE FOR A COMMON CAUSE.

10
SOLUTION
  • IF THEIR WERE ONE CLEAR WAY TO COMBAT
OVERPOPULATION IT WOULD NO LONGER BE AN ISSUE.
THEIR MAY NEVER BE A RESOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM,
BUT THE NUMBER ONE THING THAT WE COULD TO DO STOP
IT IS TO STOP THE IGNORENCE TOWARDS THE SEVERITY
OF THIS PROBLEM. ONCE WE REACH THAT STAGE, IT IS
TIME FOR THE WORLD TO WORK TOGETHER AS A WHOLE
    FOR ONE COMMON GOAL.
