Title: A Super Bowl Church

1
A Super Bowl Church
  • What it takes to be one

2
You must have a Good Owner
  • "He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who
is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf
coming, and leaves the sheep and flees, and the
wolf snatches them and scatters them. "He flees
because he is a hired hand and is not concerned
about the sheep. " I am the good
    shepherd John 1012-14 NASU

3
It Helps If Hes Rich
  • The earth is the Lord's, and all it contains, The
world, and those who dwell in it.
  • Ps 241 NASU
  • And my God will supply all your needs according
to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
  • Phil 419 NASU

4
You Need Good Coaches
  • And He gave some as apostles, and some as
prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as
    pastors and teachers,
  • for the equipping of the saints for the work of
service, to the building up of the body of
    Christ
  • until we all attain to the unity of the faith,
and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a
mature man, to the measure of the stature which
belongs to the fullness of Christ.
  • Eph 411-13 NASU

5
Coaches do the Training
  • "Go therefore and make disciples of all the
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father
and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
  • teaching them to observe all that I commanded
you and lo, I am with you always, even to the
    end of the age."
  • Matt 2819-20 NASU

6
Preaching and Teaching
  • The elders who rule well are to be considered
worthy of double honor, especially those who work
    hard at preaching and teaching.
  • 1 Tim 517 NASU

7
  • My children, with whom I am again in labor until
    Christ is formed in you.
  • Gal 419 NASU

8
The Best Coaches
  • Have years of experience as a player, assistant
    and coach
  • Work hard
  • Expect and demand top performance
  • Enjoy their job
  • Continue to learn and be creative

9
You Need Players
  • Romans 123-8
  • For through the grace given to me I say to
everyone among you not to think more highly of
himself than he ought to think but to think so
as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to
    each a measure of faith.
  • For just as we have many members in one body and
all the members do not have the same function, so
we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and
    individually members one of another.

10
  • Since we have gifts that differ according to the
grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them
accordingly if prophecy, according to the
proportion of his faith if service, in his
serving or he who teaches, in his teaching or
he who exhorts, in his exhortation he who gives,
with liberality he who leads, with diligence
he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

11
You Need A Team Spirit
  • Phil 21-8
  • Therefore if there is any encouragement in
Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if
there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any
affection and compassion, make my joy complete by
being of the same mind, maintaining the same
love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.
  • Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but
with humility of mind regard one another as more
important than yourselves do not merely look
out for your own personal interests, but also for
    the interests of others.

12
  • Have this attitude in yourselves which was also
in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the
form of God, did not regard equality with God a
thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking
the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the
    likeness of men.
  • Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled
Himself by becoming obedient to the point of
death, even death on a cross.

13
You Must have a Good offense and Defense

14
Teaching builds our defense
  • All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable
for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for
training in righteousness so that the man of
God may be adequate, equipped for every good
    work. 2 Tim 316-17 NASU

15
In Teaching we learn
  • How to be people of character
  • To stand against the offensive schemes of the
    enemy
  • How to stand strong under attack
  • To fight and battle every minute and to never
give up till the whistle blows

16
Preaching the Gospel is our Offense
  • Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus
came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God,
    and saying,
  • "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is
at hand repent and believe in the gospel.
  • Mark 114-15 NASU

17
The Ground Game
  • And He said to him, " 'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD
YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR
SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' "This is the
    great and foremost commandment.
  • "The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR
    NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'
  • Matt 2237-39 NASU

18
The Passing Game
  • Go into all the world and preach the gospel to
    all creation.
  • Mark 1615-16 NASU

19
We Need A Good Playbook
  • These signs will accompany those who have
believed in My name they will cast out demons,
they will speak with new tongues they will
lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
  • Mark 1617-18 NASU
