9WHAT WAS THE T.V.A.?
THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY
The TVA was an independent organisation. It built
a series of dams on the Tennessee river. These
irrigated the land in summer and prevented
flooding in winter as well as providing
electricity for people. Thousands of jobs were
also created.
TheTennessee Valley cut across 7 states.In winter
it flooded and in summer the area turned into a
Dust Bowl. There was much poverty and few
families had electricity. No one state could deal
with these problems.
10WHAT WAS THE SECOND NEW DEAL?
BY 1935 ROOSEVELT FELT THAT THE NEW DEAL HAD TO
GO FURTHER. HE WAS FACING OPPOSITION FROM PEOPLE
WHO THOUGHT THAT THE NEW DEAL WAS NOT HELPING THE
POOR SUFFICIENTLY SO HE INTRODUCED MORE CHANGES
