Title: Barnaby Bears
1Barnaby Bears
2Going on Holiday
- I stayed in a hotel near the airport so I would
not be late for the flight. - The airport was very busy and we had to wait a
long time before we got on the aeroplane. I sat
on a table and had a cup of coffee. - The aeroplane was a Jumbo Jet and it flew very
high.
3We flew over England and some sea until we
reached Sweden. Soon we were over Russia. We flew
across Asia for longer than a school day. Then we
crossed some more sea and landed in Japan.
4Tokyo, Japan
- When we got to Japan it was Wednesday, I was
tired because I was too excited to sleep on the
plane. - I saw Mount Fuji from the window of the Jumbo
Jet. - It was hot in Japan. We had to wait for a fast
train to take us into Tokyo. Mr Viner carried me.
5Tokyo, Japan
- Tokyo is the capital city of Japan. It is very
big bigger than London. Mr and Ms Viner took me
to a Japanese restaurant where everyone took
their shoes off and sat on the floor to eat. We
had to use chopsticks instead of a knife and
fork. The Japanese eat a lot of fish! - Our hotel was very high
6Tokyo, Japan
Today we visited a very old Buddhist temple. Most
Japanese people are Buddhists and I saw some
monks, all dressed in blue.
7After Japan we flew to Brisbane in Australia
8Gold Coast, Australia
- Now we are in Australia. It is a massive country.
We landed in Brisbane and then went on a train up
the coast where we took a boat to Fraser Island.
There are lots of animals and birds on the
island. We went on a boat to watch whales and
dolphins.
9Fraser Island
10We flew south to the big city of Sydney. It was
very exciting. I saw the famous Sidney Harbour
Bridge and the Sidney Opera House.
11We flew south to the island of Tasmania.
12Tasmania
- Tasmania is Australia's smallest state but it
seemed a big place to me. It took nearly four
hours to drive from Launceston at one end to
Hobart at the other. Mr Viner took me to meet
some Australian animals and we went to Cradle
Mountain in the snow. It was very cold in
Tasmania because our summer is Australia's
winter.
13I made some friends at Margate School, which is
near Hobart. They took my photograph with them.
14Mr and Ms Viner flew to Ayres Rock but the
airline left me in Melbourne and I did not get
there until the next day.
15Red Centre
- I saw Uluru - a big red rock in the desert that
important to the native Australians. It was very
hot in the desert.
16We flew to the top end of Australia, to the city
of Darwin.
17Darwin, Australia
- Darwin is very hot. They do not have four seasons
like we do they have the dry season and the wet
season. At the moment it is the wet season. - On Thursday we drove a long way to Kakadu
National Park where I saw lots of Kangaroos and
brightly coloured birds. I also saw some
crocodiles. They were very big and very scary.
18We flew to Singapore, which is near China. Lots
of the people are Chinese, some are Malayan and
some are from India.
19Singapore
- Like Darwin there are only two seasons. It was
the wet season and it rained a lot, although it
was very hot. Singapore is an Island and its name
means Lion Island. I saw a big statue of a beast
called the Merlion.
20After seeing Singapore we came home. The flight
took all night.
