  • Was established 1992 in Sweden
  • Qvinnliga Uppfinnare I Norden (Innovative Women
    in the North) is connecting about 900 innovative
    women in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland and
    Norway

Why was QUIN established ?
  • Only about 1-2 of the inventors are women
  • Associations of inventors do not attract women
    (there are very few women inventors)
  • Men cannot to promote inventive activities for
    women (question of identity, lack of knowledge on
    women)

  • Men do not understand women affairs (lack of
    interest and pursuit)
  • Many women do not consider themselves as
    inventors (even patent owners question of
    identity)
  • Women have ideas but it is not their traditional
    behaviour to commercialize ideas

Expected results of QUIN activities
  • Women inventors and their contribution to overall
    development will be brought to the public agenda.
    Valuable inventive and innovative female role
    models will be put on the spotlight
  • Talented women in the participating countries
    will become motivated to launch new activities
    and to start new invention-based businesses
    whereby being equipped with skills necessary for
    the protection of their intellectual property and
    for starting business (4-5 female inventors in
    Sweden and Finland today)

  • Womens professional choices, career
    opportunities and prospects will widen leading to
    the full use of womens creativity and their so
    far now underused potentials
  • A supportive environment will be created
    providing women motivations to use their creative
    and innovative talents for the benefit of
    themselves, their families and communities

    into the womens empowerment context and the
    general culture surrounding womens endeavours
    and aspirations
  • Creation of efficiently functioning network and
    working partnership between women inventors along
    the Nordic-Baltic direction and world wide
    dimension

    was established in London, 2003.

million inhabitants
  • Estonia has E- government (100 workplaces have
    computers)
  • 95 of banking operations are carried out
    electronically
  • In 2004 (income year 2003), 59 of natural income
    declarations where declared electronically. This
    year about 70 declarations
  • Usage of mobile parking constitutes approximately
    50 of total income gathered from parking fees

  • Mobile phone penetration is approximately 90
  • 58 of the working population aged 25-49 are
    using Internet
  • 90 of the young people 12-24 are the most active
    Internet users
  • 2/3 of the children 6-9 use the web.
  • These are good presumptions for quick ICT
    development in Estonia and for better networking
    between other countries worldwide. Thank you!
