19Myth of El Dorado
Spanish explorers believed they would find large
amounts of gold there. The myth stated that an
Indian king covered himself with gold dust
everyday. He washed the dust off into a pool once
a year. The Spanish never found the pool, but
they did find gold. After conquering the Incas,
they shipped millions of dollars worth of the
precious metal back to Spain.
