Richard Morris Hunt
  • Richard Morris Hunts works of art were greatly
    influenced by French architecture. He designed
    many mansions and summer homes for wealthy
    Americans of the time, namely the Vanderbilt's.

John Singer Sargent
  • Sargent is most famous for his watercolor
    portraits. His style is said to be both
    traditional and revolutionary and was
    influenced by his international travels. Sargent
    became disinterested in painting portraits and
    this led to the end of his career.

  • Whistler first achieved success with his etchings
    of working class life in London and France. His
    work was heavily influenced by Gustav Courbet,
    Greek sculptures, and Asian prints and porcelain.

Mary Cassatt
  • Cassatts style of painting was influenced by
    Degas, Manet, and Renoir. Cassatt studied in
    France and was an Impressionist painter. She
    mainly portrayed mothers and children in her
