Counseling and Psychological Services
4
Counseling and Psychological Services
  • CPS is the right place for your student to start
looking for help with personal problems that are
affecting their functioning at the University.
  • Students start by contacting CPS to schedule an
appointment either by phone at 660-543-4060 or in
person in the office at Humphreys 131.
  • A staff of psychologists will assess your
students overall well-being and the specific
    problem or issue of concern.

5
Counseling and Psychological Services
  • The CPS psychologist will make recommendations
about the type of help that may be of benefit to
    the student.
  • CPS may be able to provide assistance to the
student or the psychologist may recommend other
types of help or treatment that would need to be
    obtained elsewhere.
  • CPS works with students briefly, usually for a
few sessions. Students who require more
assistance than that are referred to other
    providers.

6
Counseling and Psychological Services
  • Other helpful information
  • If your student takes medication for a
psychological condition, the student needs to
continue his/her relationship with that treatment
provider or transfer that care to a provider in
    the local community.
  • Likewise, if your student has been receiving
ongoing counseling or therapy and needs to
continue with that treatment, the relationship
with his/her current provider should be
maintained or transferred to a provider in the
    local community.

7
Counseling and Psychological Services
  • CPS can provide information about available
psychological health care providers in the local
    community.
  • Contact CPS at 660 543 4060. CPS is located in

    necessary ie. Labs, BP, etc.

    available for educational records

    medical records

    serious injury or illness

Health Insurance
  • We accept all major insurance

    copy (front back)

  • find out what kind of coverage your student
    will have in Warrensburg
  • -- Other important things to know allergies,
pharmacy plan lab coverage (i.e. Lab Corp)

18
Cont. Health Insurance
  • There is also a Student Health Insurance Plan for
    those without commercial insurance.
  • The company will mail their brochure to all
    enrolled students this summer (mid-July)

us a call and we can mail you a copy.

Cont. Health Insurance

office visit and all labs (whether done in the
    clinic or sent out)
  • We will never bill-back for the remainder of an
office visit that the insurance company does not
    pay.
  • In-house labs not covered by the insurance will
be charged to the student account. The reference
lab can bill you directly for their services.

21
Lab Billing Considerations
  • To Bill or Not to Bill
  • -- deductible? We can file, but if deductible
not met, will come back to you
  • -- is it covered by your plan? i.e.. Well
    Women exams, PAPs
  • -- Are either Lab One or Lab Corp
in-network for your plan? They are for probably
90 or more of the plans we see.

    file w/ commercial insurance
