-Our nation continues to permit the killing of
unborn children
-While the killing of a new born is murder, the
killing of the unborn is a right of freedom (3
months difference, or less)
-Animals seem to have more laws protecting them
than do the children of those created in Gods
image.
-This issue is harming the church!

dilemmas of our day
-Abortion affect millions of Americans, as it is
the most frequently performed surgery on
Americans today
-It is a statistic that one out of three babies
conceived in the US is deliberately aborted
-Since 1973, 40,000,000 were aborted

-We have to ask ourselves, Do we really live in
a nation that stands on the terms IN GOD WE
TRUST? or Is there evidence of a lack of such
trust as we tamper with Gods work in bringing
a new life into this world?

A HISTORY OF ABORTION
-Discussions about abortion is nothing new, and
has affected many cultures (ex. Assyrian,
Babylonian, Sumerian, Hittite etc.) all of which
considered abortion a serious crime.
-A doctor in the Hippocratic Oath states, I
will NOT give a woman a pessary to produce an
abortion, yet doctors willingly perform such
acts today.

-Plato and Aristotle thought that deformed
children should be exposed and left to die (
i.e. left for the animals and the earth to
devour them)
-Closer to the time of Jesus, Josephus wrote,
The Law commanded to raise all children and
prohibited women from aborting or destroying
seed a woman who does so shall be judged a
murderess of children

-The Didache said, Do not murder a child by
abortion or kill a newborn infant
-Athenagoras, a 2nd Century Christian wrote the
emperor (Marcus Aurelius) and said, We say that
women who induce abortions are murderers, and
will have to give an account of it to God The
fetus in the womb is a living being and
therefore the object of Gods care.

-Augustine, of the 4th century criticized
husbands and wives for preferring that their
offspring die before it lives, or if it was
already alive in the womb, to kill it before it
was born
-From 1967 1973, abortion went from use during
exceptional circumstances in 18 states to
being completely legalized upon demand. (Roe /
Wade)

carried out by several means (saline injection
or salt poisoning, Suction aspiration 80 and

-We are seeing a sad day in this nation, when we
who were once conceived think we have the right
to alter the life of another innocent child that

about abortion, the Bible is a perfect guide to
equip us for all things in this life concerning
righteousness (II Timothy 316-17)
-For those who practice abortions and say that
God left no instructions they are mistaken (II
Peter 13)

We need not condemn those who are asking
forgiveness from such sin, but help them in

Sin has consequences, yet God will
forgive those who repent and obey the
gospel, and so must we

We can become involved in pro-life causes
that encourage the restrictions against
abortion
We can vote, pray and teach others by
sharing the truth of how God views this
sin called murder (James 516)

-Unborn children are precious and must not be
seen as a tissue or lifeless thing, but another
human being
-Those who perform or give approval to having an
abortion will answer to God for that sin
-If you have had or know someone who has had an
abortion, forgiveness is available in Christ
