e-Pubs Background/Purpose

• Website Background became the official Air
  Force publishing website for publications and
  forms
• 1995 Master Program Guide
• AFI 33-360
• Actual stand-up in Oct 99
• Website Purpose serves as the central
  repository for accessing, viewing, and
  disseminating public Air Force publications and
  forms (down to base/wing level)
• Hosts electronic pubs (.pdf) and forms (.xfdl)
• Physical publications and forms short titles List
  only for on-line ordering
• Link to other Services and government agencies

Migration
WHY MOVE?

• The e-Publishing website originally hosted by
  Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) was
  relocated to the Air Force News Agency (AFNEWS),
  under the Air Force Public Web Program (AFPW) on
  27 Aug 07. NOTE AFNEWS is now under DoD, due to
  this reorganization, its new name is Defense
  Media Activity (DMA).

CACHE/LATENCY

• CACHE/Latency issue ongoing
• CACHEserver storage of used image data
  frequently used (old pub and metadata still
  visible after new version posted)
• Latencyproducts appearing and disappearing/re-app
  earing with the wrong date
• Problems associated with data delivered on AKAMI
  proxy servers
• Air Force Network Operations Center (AFNOC)
  involvement began in Oct 07--researching and
  exploring possible resolution
• AFNOC sent field tasker (MTO 2007-290-001) to
  disable proxy server caching of AF e-Publishing
  website.
• Field reported compliance on 26 Nov 07
• Reengaged with AFNOC in Jan 08 due to additional
  CACHE issues surrounding the NCR
• CACHING/Latency continues to be reported and
  researched by AFNOC with HAF/IM, DMA and AKAMI

Classified Upload Procedures
PHASE 1 PROPOSED PROCEDURES

• OPR to send e-mail to AFDPO on NIPR and SIPR
• NIPR notification of product on SIPR
• SIPR will include notification and .pdf or
  .xfdl file
• AFDPO to upload file on SIPR Portal page
• AFDPO will notify OPR via SIPR e-mail of upload
