  introduce yourself.

Main Course Objectives

• Read Dr. Tracys research--history of online
  newspapers, Web first strategy, and citizen
  journalism movement.
• Read WFTA--learn specific strategies that work in
  this new environemtn
• Learn HTML, XML, CSS, and work with graphics.
• Practice using new tools in teams.
• Invention --your chance to design new forms.

• 6. Write stories in different file formats--three
  graded.
• 7. Learn what stays the same and what changes.
• 8. Put your work on a digital portfolio page.

• As a class work published online--ideally in
  wiki form.
• Use new tools--iPods, cameras.

The trilogy list

• Rhetorical objectives--what is the goal of the
  communication? Who is the audience? How do we
  best meet the needs of the audience?
• Technical objectives--which tool will work best?
• Aesthetics--does it look good?

• You will create one and post it on your portfolio
  page.
• A flexible framework to design digital content.
• Consists of three parts

• Focus on digital form--this is a new form.
• Programming is necessary.

• 5. Collaborate. Build and work with communities,
  especially students.
• 6. Visuals are important and now easy to collect.
• 7. News is a hybrid--professional and citizen.
• 8. Take advantage of exisiting online
  resources--make good links--know whats out
  there.
