LESSONS
  • The ASALs have the highest incidence of poverty
and very low access to basic services despite the
great potential and the numerous interventions
    and actors.
  • The government policies on ASAL development has
to be supported by budgetary allocations in order
to reduce the national poverty levels.
  • There is great need for all development actors to
realign their programmes with the government
policies through development budget support and
harmonize their approach in order to accelerate
development in the ASAL regions of Kenya that are
    prone to drought.
