• Were the most dominant military group in
  Mesoamerica.
• Had 3 main ranks
• Dressed up as animals Jaguar (middle rank)
  Eagle (highest rank)

• Main objective was to capture people to sacrifice
  them
• They would break limbs instead of killing
• They wore out there opponents
• They hold them under siege

Religion

• They were disliked by many people because of
  their brutal religious sacrifices

• Their gods was their only reason for living
• There was about 1,000 gods
• They did daily sacrifices

• Believed sacrifices made the sun go up
• The sun was a god that was powered y human blood
• The sun god was the Aztec Zeus

• They would give an early sacrifice
• Most people were farmers
• Others were artisans
• The emperor spend most of his day sitting

• You can only use you elbows or knees
• Game might take up hours
• Losing team was sacrificed

• Hernando Cortes demanded gold
• Montezuma (current emperor) revolted and went to
  war
• First victory went to Aztecs
• 2 years after Cortes made allies with tribes
  against the Aztec's
• Aztecs infected by small pox
• Aztecs lost and land was given to the Spanish
