What is Kellogg Board Fellows?
Our Mission Statement

The Kellogg Board Fellows program strives to
  • Prepare Kellogg students and alumni to be civic
    leaders by being effective nonprofit board
    members
  • Support nonprofits by applying Fellows business
    skills to strategic, organizational and
    operational issues
  • Build Kelloggs reputation of producing strong,
    community-oriented leaders

What is Kellogg Board Fellows?
The Experience
  • Board Apprenticeship
  • Serve as non-voting board member at Chicago-area
    nonprofit
  • Increase understanding of purpose, functioning
    and significant challenges of effective nonprofit
    board service
  • Undertake project of value to the nonprofit
  • Utilize skills developed in professional
    experiences and at Kellogg
  • Training and Support
  • Take ½ credit Nonprofit Board Governance course
    (NPMT 452A)
  • Offered in Winter Quarter, prerequisite to Board
    Fellows.
  • Take 10 training sessions during 2nd year and
    gain mentorship by nationally recognized expert
    and Kellogg Professor Anne Cohn Donnelly
  • Option to earn one additional academic credit by
    attending sessions and submitting final paper.
  • Value-Added Personal Investment
  • Builds leadership skills in a boardroom setting
  • Provides a lasting contribution and invaluable
    experiential learning

  • Selecting a pre-qualified nonprofit on which to

    class
  • Define and undertake a mutually-agreeable effort
    for the nonprofit
  • Attend Board Fellows training sessions
  • Provide feedback and input on the future
    direction of the program
