• Once upon a time there was a young Merchants
  Daughter named Hellena. Her father, Apol, was not
  only a merchant, but also a great Spartan
  warrior. He named his daughter Hellena after the
  most beautiful woman, Helen, queen of Agamemnon.

• Apols wife died when Hellena was very young.He
  was a kind-hearted warrior who adored Hellena. As
  she grew, he provided many tutors to teach her
  language, literature, and art. She had only the
  finest

• food, clothes, and toys. They lived an
  aristocratic lifestyle.
• When his daughter was ten, her father fell in
  love and married a woman who thought very highly
  of herself named Clara. Clara didnt like
  Hellena, but

• she never told Apol. Clara had two young sons
  named Solon II and Percicles II.
• Apol left to fight in the Peloponnesian War.
  Hellenas father was killed when the Athenians
  struck the Spartans and died on the battlefield.
  She was heartbroken that her father died.
• With no one to care for her, she was taken in by
  her stepmother and

• stepbrothers and was treated like a helot. Life
  in Sparta now was very different from what
  Hellena had known before.Life was not easy and
  pleasurable.They lived in a mud brick home with a
  courtyard on the outside.It was two stories with
  ionic pillars holding the second story above the
  ground. She lived in a small room and slept on a
  small cushions.She was a helot for her
  stepbrothers

• and stepmother. She tended to their every whims
  such as for dinner she would have to make
  cheese,cakes sweetened with honey,and collect

• fruits and olives. She was forced to farm land
  and grow the crops. She was miserable.
• One day a wicked Spartan aristocrat asked
  Hellena to marry him.She had

• hoped to marry one day and move away from Sparta
  to Athens where she had heard life was easier.
  She decided that if she married this Spartan
  Aristocrat, she would have to stay in Sparta.

• when she said no, the wicked aristocrat became
  very angry, so he walked out. But it turns out
  that he got killed in the battlefield.
• Hellenas life still was miserable.
  If you walked into their house you would hear to
  things yelling from stepbrothers and stepmother
  at Hellena and Hellenas footstep running across
  the house. Her stepmother and stepbrothers
  constantly would yell at her and order her to do
  stuff. Being

• her half family they treated her more like their
  very own helot. She barely had time to think
  about her dad except at night when she cried
  herself to sleep. She barely had any time for
  herself.

• Every morning
• Hellena was awakened by her stepbrothers and
  stepmother calling for breakfast. One day
  they announced that the Olympics would be held
  and that everyone

• was invited to attend.
• Hellena thought she might have a slight chance
  to go and see the Olympics. She had heard while
  walking through the agora that the Olympics were
  fun to watch. She hoped to

• meet a young Athenian warrior and marry him and
  leave, and her mean family. But her stepmother
  said she couldnt go. She was very sad. Clara
  said she had to clean the house before

• They got home , or else she wouldnt have any
  food for a day. Then they were out the door in an
  instant. She was extremely sad.
• Next her father came down as a

• messenger god named Hermes. She was in shock of
  what she saw. DDDad!
• Yes sweetie, I am a god now, and I have
  a message for you. You are going to live a good
  life very soon.

• That is all I can tell you right now. Bye
  sweetie.
• Hold on Daddy. When will I know more?
• Honey, I cannot tell you right now. It
  will get better. I love you. Bye.

• So with sorrow in her heart, Hellena went
  back to cleaning the house. Clara came home and
  saw that the house was spotless so she said,
  Good work.
• So with that Hellena slept

• peacefully. The next day the boys went to
  training and the stepmother went to talk with
  people at the the agora. During that time Hellena
  was home wondering what her father had said.

• Again her father came down and said, Hellena
  dont worry. Hera the mother of all the Gods will
  soon come and change you into a God.
• Wow I cant believe it! After this
  miserable life I

• actually get to be a god in a wonderful life.
  When will she come down daddy? She will come
  down when the sundial reaches 500. Great.
  What time is it? It is 1130. I must go now.
  Thank you daddy. I love you. Bye. Her father
  disappeared into the clouds. She went to sleep
  until 450. She awoke and stared into the sky
  hoping

• and waiting for 500 to come.
• Finally she came. She saw Hera and said, Wow,
  this is unbelievable and she stood shocked.

• Hellena, do you want to become a god ? Hera
  said. Of course Hellena exclamed. Ok then,
  here we go. With a swish of her hand the both of
  them disappeared into the clouds.
• When Hellena saw Zeuss Kingdom she fainted. It
  was so beautiful. All the gates were made out of
  gold. There was a horn in all the middle of

• this that was used to open the gates for
  newcomers. There was a very long table with
  everyone in Zeuss kingdom sitting around it. In
  the biggest, tallest, and widest chair sat Zeus.
  She was very happy that

• she had finally become a god. Zeus and the
  others were very happy to see her.She couldnt
  help but wonder what she was the goddess of, so
  she asked Zeus. It just so happens that she was
  Aphrodite

• the goddess of beauty and love. That night
  she slept at her fathers house. The next morning
  when she awoke, she walked outside and Zeus told
  her that all the single male gods wanted to marry
  her. She said to

• Ares, I will marry you, because you are the
  only one not trying to bribe me with riches.
  Then they lived on Mount Olympus happily ever
  after.
