2- PROFESSIONAL VISIT PASS (PVP)
- A PVP is a permit that allows a foreign national
to work in Malaysia or attend/conduct training in
Malaysia (without earning from Malaysia) for a
period of 1 day up to 1 year. - up to 3 months stay approved by Kedah / Penang
Immigration
- 3 months to 1 year approved by K. Lumpur
Immigration
- A PVP is obtainable only from Immigration Dept.
in Malaysia.
3WHO NEEDS A PVP ?
- International Customers (Intel Employees and
Vendors) who are required to work or
attend/conduct training in Malaysia from 1 day up
to 1 year. - WHO DOES NOT NEED A PVP ?
- International Visitors Vendors who are
visiting Malaysia for the purpose of business
eg. F2F, business meetings discussion.
- Customers visiting/touring INTEL plant without
having to be in the production line plant.

4NEW REQUIREMENT FOR PVP
- Effective January 15, 2001 all International
Customers (except Commonwealth Countries) who
have applied for PVP are required to obtain a
Business Visa at Malaysia Consulate at their
respective country or nearest to where they are
located prior to their entry to Malaysia. - If International Customers intend to obtain a
Business Visa, they need to inform ES on which
Malaysia Consulate they intend to go, in order
for ES to provide the information to Immigration.
Immigration will then, prepare a visa calling
letter which ES will be sending to them via fax
or FedEx. - International Customers also required to provide
ES the address, Intel address (only for Intel
employee). TPT for Immigration to prepare visa
calling letter is within 7- 14 working days. -
5NEW REQUIREMENT FOR PVP
- If International Customers do not want to obtain
a business visa and would like to enter Malaysia
without a visa, they are required to pay RM500 to
Immigration as a processing fee. - Note Immigration will imposed RM500 and
this amount will vary according
- to International Customers length of
assignment and this is not a fix amount.
- On their very first day at Intel, it is a MUST
for International Customers to handover the
passport and RM500 (if International Customers
enter without a business visa) to - - Norintan Abdullah (ext. 859- 2658) for
Penang
- - Noor Azmin Abdul Aziz (ext. 408-2231) or
Balkis Mohamad (ext.
- 408-2417) for Kulim site respectively in
order for us to pass to Immigration
- for PVP visa endorsement.
6NEW REQUIREMENT FOR PVP
- Any PVP application done in Malaysia without
first getting the appropriate Business Visa, is
subject to RM500 processing fees imposed by the
Malaysia Immigration. This will be charged to the
sponsor or paying department.
7WHO NEEDS A BUSINESS VISA?
- All countries including US citizen who have
applied for PVP.
- Restricted country such as India, Philippines,
Taiwan China, it is
- a MUST for travelers to wait for Visa
Calling Letter issued by
- Immigration before obtain a visa and entry
into Malaysia.
WHO DOES NOT NEED A BUSINESS VISA?
- Commonwealth Country (e.g Singapore, Brunei,
Great Britain,
- Switzerland, Ireland, Netherlands, Canada and
etc).
8WHY IS PVP IMPORTANT?
- PVP is a MUST HAVE document required by the
Government of Malaysia . ALL International
customers must apply for a PVP before entry into
Malaysia via Malaysia Employee Services by
sending complete documents listed in Appendix A.
9Appendix A CHECKLIST FOR PROFESSIONAL VISIT PASS
1. Invitation letter from Intel Technology,
Penang or Intel Products, Kulim (you
need to know your assignment location).
Letter is prepared by your host
manager and send a copy to International
Customers and a copy to ES.
2. Verification letter
from home manager addressed to Intel Technology,
Penang or Intel Products, Kulim. Letter mus
t be on company letter head and signed.
3. Copy
of all passport pages (front page until last
page) 4. Copy of academic certificate (Degree or
Diploma) 5. Resume

12WHAT IS EMERGENCY PVPS
- An emergency PVP is a special document approved
by ML Immigration for customers who need to visit
Intel Penang/Kulim
- only for emergency reasons as stated
under-
- Issues related to Procured items/materials
(Causing manufacturing stoppage
- /interruptions.
- 2) Training -
- - On current products / new product
transfer.
- - On new machines/equipment purchased by
Intel (Classroom / hands on).
- - On machine installation/breakdown
(Classroom / hands on).
- - Audit newly installed machines.
13 EMERGENCY PVP Continued
- For entry without Business Visa applied in home
country, PVP applications will be submitted to
State Immigration, with processing fee of RM500
(exclusive visa, levy extension fees). Expected
14 days processing TPT. - International customers must ensure documents
listed in Appendix A are faxed to Malaysia
Employee Services before departure. It is a MUST
for travelers to report to site ES REP. ON 1ST

- Important Reminder
- This exception is not applicable to International
Customers from China, India, Taiwan and
Philippines. These nationalities MUST send
documents listed as in Appendix A to Malaysia
Employee Service. - - Wait for visa approval letter to be fax or
FedEx to them
- - Get business visa endorsement from
Malaysia Consulate in their home
- country or nearest Consulate to where
they are located prior entry to Malaysia.

- CONFORMANCE
- Visitors caught will be JAILED and repatriated
- Company fined RM10,000 - RM50,000
- MD/GM/HR MGR/HR OFF/HR CLERK JAILED
