    expenditure.
  • Approximately 3 of the GDP is allocated for
    healthcare sector.

MEDICAL DEVICES
  • Currently valued at nearly US1.3 billion and is
    expected to grow to US3 billion by 2010.
  • The majority of hi-tech devices are still
    imported.
  • The U.S. has the largest import market share of
    26 in 2006.
  • The Medical Device Act will be implemented by
    2008/09. Online voluntary registration is
    currently on-going via Ministry of Health

    expedite the National Healthcare Financing
    Systems.

    and medical equipment
  • Implementation of hospital information system
    (HIS) in improving healthcare delivery

  • About US2.7 billion has been allocated for the
    health sector development during 9 Malaysia Plan
    (2006-2010)

  • - a National Crisis (Health) Preparedness
    Response Center
  • - a National Cancer Institute
  • - a National Oral Health Institute
  • Health tourism will continue to be promoted a
    comprehensive package will be developed.
