2Some Facts about Hong Kong
- About 30 professional womens organisations in
Hong Kong - According to the Womens Commission, there are
over 250 womens organisations, from grassroots
to professionals - Women still only earn 75 percent of what men earn
for the comparable or same position, according to
the Equal Opportunities Commission - Total executive population in Hong Kong is
approximately 8,000 (male and female)

lack of young women in non-traditional fields of
study and in the professions (i.e. engineering,
construction, surveying, etc.) - Supporter of an annual bursary award(s) to young
women studying a non-traditional field

- Downturned global and regional economy
- Redundancy and unemployment rate nearing 8.2
some say the unemployment rate will rise to 10 - Real Estate market experiencing negative equity
property has lost 50-60 of its value - Adjustment in the salary market for HK and the

- Long term unemployed
- Many new small businesses/consultancies
/entrepreneurs - SARS Devastated Hong Kong in April and May
- Result Executives leaving HK being posted in
China job uncertainty postings are usually 2
years so, 2-year churn rate reluctance to join
organisations and volunteer

and executives - To be completed in collaboration with City
University of Hong Kong by our Annual General
Meeting November 2003

- Maintain monthly events on professional
development (such as coaching, NLP, Dale
