the Frequently Asked Questions about our school.
3FAQ 1 Why a Lutheran High School in Jefferson
City?
- Elementary Education a strong component of
Lutheran churches in the area - 2003 feasibility study conducted results showed
a school not only appropriate but necessary - Fall, 2005 doors open to Calvary Lutheran High
School
4FAQ 2 Location?
- Currently renting facilities in on the Lincoln
University campus 1-3 more years in a temporary
site until permanent facilities can be built - Permanent site along the Hwy 179 corridor under
negotiation - Working with Church Development Partners to
acquire and develop an ideal site
5FAQ 3 How Many Students?
- 2005-2006 9 students
- 2006-2007 projected enrollment of 25-30
students freshmen, sophomores, juniors - Continued growth each year!
6FAQ 4 - Curriculum
- Small class sizes with plenty of individual
attention - Up-to-date computers and software are essential
for preparation in todays business world
7- Academic program to prepare students for life
after high school postsecondary education
emphasis - Missouri College Preparatory Curriculum
- Current courses include Spanish, Algebra, Old
Testament, Art, PE, Choir, Computer Applications,
Government, English I, and Biology - Elective courses in 06-07 include Desktop
Publishing, Web Design, Spanish II, Art, and
Music - Christian faith and principles integrated
throughout - Accreditation expected in 2006
8- Old Testament 1st year students
- New Testament 2nd year students
- The Bible is taught as the Inspired Word of God,
free from error and intended to teach about Gods
love and plan for us - Students of other Christian denominations are
warmly welcomed - We are sensitive to the differences in practices
and doctrines of various Christian denominations
9- Dual enrollment courses have already been
negotiated with Lincoln University - Students interested in career education courses
may attend Nichols Career Center - Guidance Counselor on staff
- Academically gifted students will be challenged
at CLHS! - Limited resources for students with special
needs and/or learning disabilities but
modifications to curricula are possible

14FAQ 8 How was the Tuition Amount Chosen?
- Tuition covers nearly 90 of the per student
operating cost of the school - No tuition is used to cover facility costs
- Area Lutheran congregations, individual donors,
and grants cover all costs not covered by
tuition, including financial aid - The Calvary School Board is seeking to build an
endowment fund to cover some operating costs of
the school.
15- No family, sincerely desiring a Christian
education for their children, should be denied
the opportunity simply because of their financial
situation - Tuition Grant program is available
- Eligibility for tuition assistance grants is
determined by a third party organization based
upon review of a completed application

20FAQ 10 What do the students think about their
school?
Calvary is a nice place fun and educational at
the same time. The teachers are usually nice,
most of the classes are fun, and the students are
fun and energetic. Drew

We have a close knit relationship.... I love
the atmosphere and enjoy coming every day. - Macy

that have the same views as you. There are some
bonuses to being in a small school you get one
on one attention. We each have our own computers
