Set up

• Installed OUN GFE on na_sr2 linux box.
• Untarred OUN SITE/TEXT and etc/SITE
  directories (emailed from Steve Nelson).
• Set up GFE text formatters for CCF, RDF, FWF,
  ZFP, AFD, and AFP products.

Set upcontinued

• Wrote scripts to automate stuff for the
  forecasters.
• Made available a one page procedure document.
• Entire set up took about 1 week. Formatter
  testing lasted another week.

Jan 21, 2003

• Service backup was planned (OUN 5.2.2 install).
• Public Forecaster (Mark Plate) came in around 830
  AM and was editing OUN grids by 9AM. Spin up took
  about 5 minutes.
• Entire suite of OUN text products were produced
  through GFE formatters (first time for RDF).

Results and ISC

• Feedback from staff was that this was a very
  smooth service backup experience.
• Have added recently added ISC capability for
  service backup GFE (with ifps 12.3 ).

Notes

• Formatter set up will be made easier once sister
  offices are using GFE formatters operationally.
• Local Procedures and smart tools usage was
  preferred over using sister offices unfamiliar
  ones.
• Xnow interface works well, if Zone combinations
  are needed.
• Have to add your own office id to.
• ISC_Sites 'SGF','ICT','OUN','BCQ','FWD','SHV','
  LZK','TSA'.
• to get local office ISC grids to service
  backup gfe.
