The Great Pyramid
The Great Pyramid of Giza It was built in
approximately 2560 2540 BC, over a period of
twenty years. The pyramid is made of large, two
ton blocks of stone native to the region. It was
built by Pharaoh Khufu in the Fourth Dynasty. It
stood 481 feet tall when it was built, but has
deteriorated 30 feet in height. Its sides are
751 feet long. This structure has a square base
with four sloping sides that meet in a point at
the top. It is made out of large stone blocks
that are tan in color. It was built to be a tomb
for Pharaoh Khufu upon his death It is the only
one of the known Seven Wonders to be in existence
today. It is in Cairo, Egypt. The most important
thing to know about this Wonder is that it was
built with incredible mathematical precision. All
four of its sides are aligned with the four
directions on a compass. The stones inside fit so
well that you cannot slip a playing card between
them.
