Role of GOs
  • Government Offices overall purpose is to work
    with national, regional and local partners to
    deliver central Governments aims in the region
  • to achieve high and stable levels of growth and
    employment,
  • to build a safe, inclusive and prosperous society
    that can develop in a sustainable way.

  • Department for Education and Skills
  • Department of Health
  • Department for Communities and Local Government
  • Department of Trade and Industry

As far as the GO Children and Learners function
is concerned, the DfES has identified four high
level roles
