• Each drifter has a 5-digit ID "ABCDE" painted
  on the PVC, the flag, the flotation, and
  subsurface sails as follows
• "A" is the year of deployment (3,4,5...)
• "B" is the month of deployment (5,6,7,8, or 9)
• "C" is the last digit of the deg latitude of
  release for the offshore-most drifter in the
  transect (2,3, or 4)
• "D" is the last digit of the degrees longitude of
  releasing offshore-most drifter in the transect
  (0,9,8, or 7)
• "E" is the offshore extent (inshoremost drifter
  is 1) where
• Examples
• drifter 46204 is a dark blue drifter deployed in
  about 40 meters of water off Glouchester Mass
  (42 deg north,70 deg west,) in June of 2004
• drifter 65472 is the 2nd drifter from the coast
  (20m), painted black, that was deployed off
  Cutler Me (44 deg north, 67deg west) in May
  2006
