The Congress of Vienna
  • The Congress of Vienna was an international
    conference that was called in order to remake
    Europe after the downfall of Napoleon Bonaparte
    the 1st. Many territorial decisions had to be
    made in the conference that was held in Vienna,
    Austria, from September 1814 to June 1815. The
    main goal of the conference was to create a
    balance of power that would preserve the peace.

Alexander 1st
  • Alexander 1st was born December 23, 1777, St.
    Petersburg, Russia-died December 1st, 1825,
    Taganrog. He became Czar in 1801 after the
    assassination of his father, Paul 1st. He also
    attended the Congress of Vienna to also make his
    marks on the map of Europe and which places that
    he wanted to dominate, or control.

  • During the meet of the Congress of Vienna, Russia
    did not really want more lands but they received
    the land of Finland and also a part of Poland,
    which was known at the time The Great Duchy of
    Warsaw.

  • Russia was mostly apposed to many of the others
    and it went so far as to conclude a defensive
    triple alliance. The shock of this crisis and the
    return of Napoleon 1st from Elba so upset the
    delegates that the congress began to find
    solutions for its many difficulties.

  • Britain had control over Ionian Islands.
