Case Staffing Documentation
  • Helpful Hints
  • Reference WFHB Chapter 3.5

2
Purpose of Staffings
  • To collaborate with a group of professionals to
  • Review parents current and past circumstances
  • Are there any past issues that may still be
    unresolved?
  • Any history of mental, physical or drug issues or
    domestic violence concerns?
  • Any NSA concerns or issues?
  • Suggest problem resolution strategies
  • Recommend or explore options
  • Document results
  • Please remember a home visit is not a substitute
    for a case staffing.

3
Document
  • DMS, ACES and eJAS notes were reviewed for
    barriers/concerns (both old and new)
  • What was discussed at the staffing
  • Parents participation in the discussion
  • The parent was informed of the infant exemption
  • NSA was screened

Good Case Staffing - Sample 1
Present Parent, WFPS and WF supervisor. TANF
open 29 months. Currently paying 250 rent. The
house she is living in is approved for section
8. Discussed barriers with parent 1) Mental
Health (SR) She states no issues. 2)Family
Violence (SR) She states no issues. 3) Chemical
Dependency (SR) She states no issues but reports
she did some drugs and alcohol in HS. She does
drink once in a while but does not think she has
a problem with it. 4)Transportation Car not
working and has no license. Gave her 2 bus passes
for transportation. She is within walking
distance of the office. 5) Literacy/Learning
States a little slower but comprehends if
re-reads. 6) Legal Paying on fines, approx
4000. States are traffic fines. Verified with
CPS on 5-8-07 no CPS involvement. Solution No
barriers found. Parent to be placed in sanction.

Good Case Staffing Sample 2
  • Jennifer attended her non-compliance sanction
case staffing scheduled for today. Present are
Jennifer, WFPS, Social Worker and ESD. Parent has
    reached 20 months on TANF.
  • Parent indicates no issues/barriers to
participation. She "just hasn't". Review of her
case shows previous issues with CPS and special
needs child. Discussed both of these issues with
Jennifer. She states she did have an open case
with CPS. Called CPS and verified case closed on
    5/15/07.
  • Jennifer resides with her mother and other family
members. When asked how she would be able to
support her children if TANF closed, she
indicated that she is looking into work and
mother will not let them live on the streets.
  • The objective of the NCS was to attempt
engagement of WorkFirst for this parent with no
success. NCS home visit will be scheduled and
letter with community resource list sent out this
    day.

Good Case Staffing Sample 3
  • Sandra was in CSO for the staffing on 6/5/2007.
Discussed with her why she was placed in
sanction, and how to cure the sanction. Explain
to her that if she continues not to participate
without good cause, her case would be referred to
the SRB for a NCS decision and if it is approved,
her case would be close once she has been
sanctioned for 6 months. Discussed with Sandra on
how she would be able to support her family if
the TANF grant was close due to NCS...she states
she does not know. Provided her with a Resource
List for the county...places, she could contact
for help if needed. Also, explain that medical
and food stamps benefits can continue even if her
    cash benefit is terminated.
  • Reviewed case with Sandra to identify any new
barriers(1) FAMILY VIOLENCE - No new issues
reported (2) MENTAL HEALTH - See Confidential
Notes (3) CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY - No new issues
    (4) ADULT GENERAL HEALTH - No issues (5)
CHILDCARE - States will use a neighbor
friend....advised her of WCCC program (6)
    CHILDREN HEALTH/SPECIAL NEEDS - No issues (7)
HOUSING - Have been living with her mother since
3/2003. Her mother owned the home but it has been
foreclosed by the bank, gone to auction and
sold....gave her info on HUD housing and low
income (8) TRANSPORTATION - No driver license
and do not currently live near public
transportation. Relies on family and friends for
help. Advise on ParaTransit for medical
appointments and that we could provide a bus pass
for public transportation if she needs it (9)
OTHER AGENCIES - Checked w/Children's Protective
    Services...no current open case.
  • Sandra agreed during NCS staffing to start
participation to cure her sanction. A CE
foundation was completed and Sandra was referred
to WorkSource to complete the evaluation on
6/6/2007 at 9 AM. IRP was signed in the CSO.
