3There has been much research done on the
benefits of music study. The research has
discovered remarkable evidence that music study
actually alters the brain anatomy. Music lessons
and listening to music can enhance spatial
reasoning performance, a critical higher-brain
function necessary to perform complex tasks like
mathematics. Discussion of the spatial and
musical intelligences is important because they
are not nurtured throughout a childs educational
years.

5- Benefits of Music Study
- Hand and eye coordination
- Enhances childrens abstract reasoning skills
necessary for learning math and science. - The Mozart Effect came about four years ago when
researchers discovered that adults who listened
to complex music increased their spatial IQ
scores. - Researchers in Leipzip discovered that musicians
had larger planum temporale, the region of the
brain associate with reading.
6Conclusion The benefits of studying music are
indicated by high achievement in other academic
areas. The power of music and its relevance to
these areas suggests that we need more of it in
the classroom. The reality is that limited time
and funding make music less of a priority. Music
study impacts student achievement in four areas
- Success in school
- Success in developing intelligence
- Success in society
- Success in life.
