Intellitec UK is a division of the VIP Group of
Companies (Vehicle Improvement Products).Other
companies in the group include Truckalign Co
Ltd A specialist repairer of commercial
vehicles, Coaches PSVs Established in 1970,
Truckalign are probably the best known chassis
cab repairers in the UK. Compak
Ramps Established in 1999 the Compak brand has
rapidly become the No 1 Selling ramp in the UK
with all major bus operators in London specifying
the Compak Product. VIP Property Established
in 1984, commercial property refurbishment
company, with a number of fully let industrial
estates in the London area. Intellitec MV
Ltd Founded in 1994, Intellitec is a designer,
manufacturer supplier of electrical /
electronic systems to the specialty vehicle
sector.

Company Profile
Intellitec MV Ltd was founded in 1994 as a
distributor installer of automotivebattery
power management systems, manufactured by
Intellitec in the USA. See www.intellitec.com In
tellitec USA had developed a system called
Battery Guard for the motorhome RV
sector.Having a lot of experience in the
commercial truck, utility van PSV sector we
knew there was a huge and perennial flat battery
problem. In the year we founded Intellitec, the
biggest single cause of vehicle downtime was
flat batteries. In 2005 the problem is still the
same. Intellitec rapidly became known as the
Battery Guard company with many of the largest
vehicle operators in the UK specifying the
system on new vehicles. In 1995/1996 Intellitec
UK initiated there own RD study to develop
different variations of the Battery Guard ideally
suited to the European vehicle parc. Intellitec
UK signed a technology partnership with
Intellitec USA that would allow both companies to
work jointly on new product development and that
Intellitec MV Ltd would become the sole
exclusive application engineers for Intellitec
products outside of the USA.

Company Profile
In 1996 we began to discuss with Intellitec USA
the concept of a Programmable Logic System
specifically for the PSV / Emergency vehicle body
builders. Intellitec USA already had a number of
years experience in multiplex systems i.e. the
Smart Wheel for Paccarr which uses the
proprietary Intellitec protocol. We had a
conceptual system idea by the winter of 1996. We
decided that it would be a good idea to get
bodybuilder / vehicle operator input into our
concept, we arranged to take a number of vehicle
operators and bodybuilders to the Intellitec USA
facility during May 1997. Our concept was
approved by all concerned and Programmable
Multiplex Control was officially launched in
August 1997.

Products
The standard Battery Guard range is available for
both 12Volt and 24Vvolt applications and can
handle current up to 100A continuous (500 Amps
max) or 200A continuous (1200 Amps max). The
maximum period is for 30 seconds (i.e. cranking
loads). Features include a fully potted module
rated to IP67, and automatic or manual battery
isolation.

Products
The ability to correctly charge two separate
banks of batteries from a vehicle alternator
system is often thought to be a simple task, in
reality this is rarely the case.. Very often a
simple relay is fitted between the battery banks,
and the alternator is expected to cope with the
subsequent resistance problems between the
battery voltages.The Intellitec Isolator Relay
Delay (IRD) and Battery Isolator Control (BIC)
are specificallydesigned for this application.

Vehicle Programmable Logic Control (VPLC) has
been designed to provide a flexible switching and
control unit that is programmable by the
installer to perform a wide variety of functions
including remote switching and signalling. VPLC
has 10 solid state outputs all of which can be
programmed with a windows based program using
boolean logic. In addition the system has the
facility for three hard wired direct inputs, plus
temp input, voltage input again all of which can
be referenced in the software making VPLC a
powerful tool for the special vehicle builder.

multiplex protocol (3 wires).

Programmable Multiplex Control (PMC) was designed
specifically for the PSV specialist vehicle
bodybuilder. Modular in design, PMC is becoming
the system mostbody builders are comfortable
with. A system consists of just one Central
Processing Unit (CPU) with 320 channels and a
series of input / output nodes that have been
designed to allow the system designer maximum
flexibility. Each module consists of 10 channels
with a CPU able to control 32 modules i.e. 32 X
10 320 physical channels, with the addition
of160 virtual channels and 160 timers. The
4Khz data transfer protocol used in PMC is
proprietary to Intellitec, this relatively slow
speed protocol allows the use of normal
automotive cable, there is no requirement
for twisted pair or screened cable. The
PMC Windows based software WINPMC package is
based on boolean algebra which is an easy to
understand series of AND OR NOT commands,
coupled with timers, virtual channels and voltage
logic.
