- Prewriting - helps you to focus, select and shape
a subject to write about.

- Journal Writing A daily record of thoughts,
impressions, and autobiographical information.
5Prewriting Strategies
- Free Writing Writing openly and freely on any
topic focused free writing is writing openly on
a specific topic. - 1. Choose a topic you want to write about.
- 2. Write quickly for about five or ten minutes.
Dont worry about spelling or grammar. If you
dont know a word in English write it in Spanish.
- 3. If you cant think of anything write the
same thing over again. - 4. When you finish circle the ideas you want to
use. -
6Prewriting Strategies
- Clustering it is a way to help you see your
ideas on paper. It helps you to see connections
between main ideas and supporting details. - 1. Write your topic in the middle of your
paper. Circle it. - 2. Write down each idea you have about the
topic in a smaller circle. Draw a line from the
smaller circles to the big circle in the center. - 3. Now think about ideas in the smaller
circles.

- Listing Begin with an idea and simply start
listing words as they come to your mind. - Five Ws Answer the Who? What? Where? When? and
Why? (You can add How? to the list.) - Directed free writing it is a variation of free
writing with a particular focus in mind.
