  • Prewriting - helps you to focus, select and shape
    a subject to write about.

  • Journal Writing A daily record of thoughts,
    impressions, and autobiographical information.

Prewriting Strategies
  • Free Writing Writing openly and freely on any
    topic focused free writing is writing openly on
    a specific topic.
  • 1. Choose a topic you want to write about.
  • 2. Write quickly for about five or ten minutes.
    Dont worry about spelling or grammar. If you
    dont know a word in English write it in Spanish.
  • 3. If you cant think of anything write the
    same thing over again.
  • 4. When you finish circle the ideas you want to
    use.

  • Clustering it is a way to help you see your
    ideas on paper. It helps you to see connections
    between main ideas and supporting details.
  • 1. Write your topic in the middle of your
    paper. Circle it.
  • 2. Write down each idea you have about the
    topic in a smaller circle. Draw a line from the
    smaller circles to the big circle in the center.
  • 3. Now think about ideas in the smaller
    circles.
