• What is the relationship between air pressure and
  temperature as air rises in the troposphere?
• How does this differ from the relationship on the
  surface of the earth?

Howd You Do?

• In the open atmosphere there is a DIRECT
  relationship between pressure and temperature. As
  you go UP air expands, molecules move farther
  apart, and so air pressure goes DOWN. Temperature
  also goes down.
• When talking weather systems, however, LOW
  pressure is associated with higher temperatures
  while HIGH pressure is associated with lower
  temperatures.
