  • 7th Largest School District in Texas (out of
    1,037)
  • By 2010, projected to serve 78,000
  • By 2020, projected to serve 104,000
  • Opened 20 new campuses since 1995
  • Opening 8 new campuses over the next 3
    years/rebuilding 3 existing campuses
  • Bond referendum (historically) held every 4 years

Serving Hurricane Katrina Rita Students
  • Our schools and our county have welcomed these
    students and their families.
  • Efforts have been well coordinated with the
    county and cities.
  • More than 2,200 students were enrolled in FBISD
    (at the peak). Currently have 909.
  • We have provided clothes and school supplies via
    Shared Dreams and other contributions.

Adding New Schools
  • This year we opened our 61st campus Hodges Bend
    Annex to address overcrowding until middle school
    13 is built in that area (the Annex will then
    become an elementary school).
  • Next year we will open our 10th high school,
    Travis High School, located at 11111 Harlem Road
    in Richmond, our 12th middle school, Baines
    Middle School at 9000 Sienna Ranch Rd. in Sienna
    Plantation and Elementary 40 in Waterside
    Estates.

Adding New Schools
  • In 2007-2008 the following schools will open
  • Middle School 13 located at 19001 Beechnut in
    Richmond.
  • Elementary 39 at 3250 Lexington Blvd. in
    Stafford which will house QVE students until
    their campus is rebuilt and open in Aug. 08
  • Elementary 41 near HHS in the Winfield Lakes
    Estates Subdivision.
  • Elementary 42 in the Telfair Community in Sugar
    Land on 1802 Chatham Avenue.

  • Overall, student scores are upcontinued progress
    each year.
  • However, state accountability ratings are
    downdue to increased standards.
  • No excusesstrategies are targeted to help
    students improve, to continue our progress, and
    improve accountability ratings.

Good News Facts
  • 82 of our students took SAT/ACT last year
    compared to 62 statewide.
  • FBISDs SAT mean score was 1031 compared to 987
    state score (44 points higher).
  • 97 of the Class of 2005 (4,683) passed TAKS and
    graduated.
  • Our seniors received over 25 million in academic
    and athletic scholarships.

  • More than 22 of juniors/seniors took AP
    (Advanced Placement) exams.
  • Of that, 77 earned a 3 or higher, meaning they
    earned college credit.
  • One of best 100 communities for a Fine Arts
    Education (3rd year in a row by American Music
    Conference)

  • FBISD had 54 National Merit Semi-finalists in
    2005-2006.
  • Named 2005 Fittest School District in Texas by
    Governor Rick Perry
  • FBISD along with City of Sugar Land named in 2005
    as 100 Best Communities in the Nation for Young
    People by Americas Promise.

Our Community Supports FBISD Success!
  • Parent volunteers (VIPS) donated over 300,000
    volunteer hours (valued at 5 million).
  • Business and Community Partners provided in-kind
    and financial contributions (valued at 4.5
    million).
  • Fort Bend Education Foundation donated 210,000
    directly to grants for teachers (more than 1.3
    million in past 12 years).
  • Based on 17.19 per hour as established by the
    Houston Association of Volunteer Administrators.)
