  • Battalion Formal Inspection yields Honor Unit
    with Distinction classification.

  • Miss Tara Lee Garrison received the Papa Johns
    Teacher Appreciation Award for the Upstate.
    Jonnie Days essay that she submitted for the
    award also won for the Upstate.

  • Fred Connington represented LHS at two
    conferences sponsored by the American
    Psychological Association and will be presenting
    district workshops on the content of these
    experiences.

  • The 2006-2007 school year was the first year that
    LHS sent students to Winthrop for the Model
    United Nations.
  • Ken Hitchcock and Joy Skelton sponsored the
    delegation.
  • Fred Connington prepared these students for the
    event.

  • LHS begins International Culture Club to increase
    awareness of world cultures.

  • LHS began a focus on improving literacy.
  • Each rising 9th grade student received a book to
    read the summer before the 2007-2008 school year.
  • Book talks are spontaneously taking place all
    over the school.

  • Joy Skelton took a course to become certified in
    AP US History.
  • Students were recruited for the course during
    2006-2007.
  • Two sections of AP US History are offered at LHS
    for 2007-2008.

  • AP Human Geography offered to 9th grade students
    at LHS
  • Fred Connington and Ken Hitchcock worked in
    conjunction with LMS to make AP Human Geography
    available to top students in the Freshmen Academy
    for 07-08. Visits to LMS to discuss this course
    have produced a class of almost 30 freshmen
    seeking AP credit.

  • Knowledge Master Open continues growing in
    numbers of participants and competitions.

  • Brittany Goza (class of 2007) received a
    Teaching Fellows Scholarship.
  • Brittany currently attends Columbia College in
    Columbia, SC.

    Majors in four year colleges.

  • Mrs. Goss teaches the self-contained Trainable
    and Profound Mentally Disabled and Autistic
    students at Liberty High School.  Her program,
    The "I" Team, was recently awarded the,
    "Outstanding Program Award" for South Carolina
    from the South Carolina Division on Career
    Development and Transition.  This is a
    prestigious award through the Council for
    Exceptional Children.

    annual AOP Science Fair.

  • LHS partners with Curves of Liberty.
  • Curves donated calculators for students to use in
    science classes.
  • Curves also donated alarm clocks for students who
    had financial need.

  • Mrs. Toole has been selected as a
  • League of American Theatres and Producers
    2006-2007 Educator Apple Award winner.
  • The League of American Theatres and Producers
    present the Tony Awards.  Mrs. Toole, nominated
    by The Peace Center for her partnership on a 2006
    Broadway project, is one of only four teachers
    selected from across the nation for this honor.

  • The LHS Drama classes and members of the
    International Thespian Society produced several
    successful plays.

  • Six students from the LHS Thespian Society
    participated in the
  • Palmetto Dramatic Association/SC Thespians
    Festival at Converse College.
  • Cody Abshire, Jeremy Bigham, Arielle Brooks, 
    Laura Wells, Kayla Dickson, and Hannah Lickfield
    competed in the Duet Acting Individual Event
    Arielle Brooks also performed in the Monologue
    Performance category.

    advance to the duet acting event at the
    International Thespian Festival in Lincoln,
    Nebraska, in June.
